Environment

The natural beauty in our town is precious. Our rich environmental systems are threatened by climate change, overdevelopment, and pollution. The MKDC believes everyone has the right to clean air and water, sustainable infrastructure, and a life free from exposure to poisonous chemicals, pollution, flooding, invasive plant and insect species, and toxic waste.

The MKDC believes in continuing to modernize sewage pumps and infrastructure as well as enhancing flood mitigation and emergency preparedness. The MKDC advocates for more green public buildings and vehicles, restoring open spaces, and reducing Mount Kisco's carbon footprint. We believe in sustainable development that encourages economic growth while protecting our natural environment, green spaces, and the quality of life of all our residents.

Immigration

Our town’s diversity is our strength. The Mount Kisco Democratic Committee supports policies and programs that encourage immigrants and their families to become U.S. citizens. As of 2025, at least 29.4% of our neighbors were born outside the United States and came here as small children. We support the continuation of the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program until comprehensive immigration reform is adopted.

With ongoing attacks on our residents, it is crucial that we speak out against illegal and extrajudicial arrests. The MKDC supports ensuring access to legal representation for immigrants.

Housing

We believe that all our residents deserve dignity, respect, and compassion. Our unhoused neighbors need support and shelter to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. The MKDC is committed to studying the root causes of these issues and addressing them thoughtfully and carefully, in collaboration with those already working to support the unhoused.

The Mount Kisco Democratic Committee fully supports the nonprofit organizations and houses of worship that assist our unhoused neighbors. We are committed to policies that provide temporary shelter, offer a range of supportive services, and focus on prevention and rapid re-housing, all while promoting community collaboration.

Partnerships

The heart of Mount Kisco lies in its close-knit community. The MKDC is committed to strengthening the bonds that make our town special. We are delighted to support our local organizations and volunteers, working together to tackle the problems our neighbors face head-on.

At the same time, the connections we make beyond the borders of our town are essential to our well-being. The needs of Mount Kisco must be heard by our county, state, and federal partners. The Mount Kisco Democratic Committee is dedicated to fostering these connections and securing funding and support for our neighbors. We will work to maintain full funding of our residents' benefits, such as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and senior and childhood nutritional programs.

Local Economy

Small, local businesses are the backbone of our economy. The Mount Kisco Democratic Committee is dedicated to fostering an environment where both our legacy businesses and budding entrepreneurs can thrive. Through key investments in walkability and expanded public spaces, Mount Kisco will drive job creation for our region.

However, this continued economic growth requires additional outside investment. Our flagship proposal is to secure a grants specialist who will actively seek and solicit grants, ensuring the continued flow of investment into Mount Kisco. While Mount Kisco has secured over $22 million in grants over the last decade, we believe this grant writer will be essential in fully exploring available funding opportunities.
